Welcome to my world…

Ernie, our little brat. He was hatched on July 4, 2001. We adopted him on June 7, 2002.

ALERT: Feedspot has named my webpage one of Tucson’s Top 20 Blog sites for 2023! I’m so happy! This work is a labor of love, and I’m thrilled about receiving this honor!

Welcome to my web page. I’ve had this site since 2013, but most of what you’ll find here has been created in the past 2 and a half years. I hope you find my posts interesting. I try to keep busy, and this is where I keep track of some of my more memorable activities and experiences.

My website includes a number of pages that cover my work as a librarian, as well as pages that provide an in-depth look at my hobbies, my family and my own personal history. I enjoy writing and sharing stories with my family and friends. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact me at joserobertodiaz@cox.net. Thanks!

Here’s Jim Reeves…

My formal name is Joseph Robert Diaz, but my friends and associates all call me Bob. I was born in Tucson, Arizona, and with the exception of a several months spent in Nogales, Az. and about five and a half years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I have lived in Tucson my entire life. I attended Robison Elementary School, Mansfeld Jr. High, and Salpointe High School. I then enrolled at the University of Arizona.  where I received both my B.A. degree in Psychology in 1982 and Master’s degree in Library Science in 1986.

I have worked in a number of jobs over the years, but have spent the bulk of my career working in academic libraries, including the Undergraduate Library at the University of Michigan and the University of Arizona Libraries, where I have been employed since 1992. In my current position, I manage our online reference service and serve as the curator for the Architecture and Performing Arts collections for Special Collections.

I worked at home during the first year of the pandemic. That’s when I created many of my blog posts. In early June, 2021, I started going in to work a few hours a week, and was back full time by early August, 2021. I now just work from home one day a week and the rest of the week I can be found at Special Collections at the UofA Library.

When I’m not at my computer working, I practice my guitar and flute, read, work on writing my life story, and do a lot of yard work and other chores. Sometimes I get together with my friends, but not as often as I would like. I have a partner who I’ve been with for over thirty years, and a pet Amazon parrot named Ernie. Together we make a small, but happy family, although I come from a very large family. Most of my immediate family resides here in Tucson. My extended family can be found in Spain, Mexico and all over the United States.

A note about my website: I am not in this to make a profit. I do not make any money from these posts. That’s not why I do this. Any material that I use in this site, I do with the intention of claiming fair use and inclusion for educational purposes only. There are lots of images that I have borrowed from here and there included in my blog posts. If you, as the owner of any of the images or other materials included here, would like me to take something down, please let me know by sending a message to me at joseobertodiaz@cox.net. My purpose is to educate and share, nothing more. Thank you. –Bob Diaz
